It has begun again.
Casting for season 5 is now in full swing, and hopefuls have until Monday, October 24th to submit an online application (note the proviso that says that date may be changed at any time). Head on over to the official site http://bigbrothercanadacasting.ca/ and read the application instructions very carefully. Something else that you should read very carefully is the waiver.
Open casting calls will be announced soon, if you prefer to apply in person. Keep checking the official site for updates, but I suspect they will follow a schedule similar to last year's dates - with the Toronto open call just before the online closing deadline.
Whichever method you choose to apply, I highly recommend doing your homework on the casting process. There are now a wealth of Youtube videos from previous cast members, and even some featuring Robyn Kass herself. Watch the U.S. videos as well (like Dan Gheeslings tips, which you can find HERE) - remember that the Casting Director does BOTH shows! Please, watch them all, but I can tell you the three most important factors:
⦁ Be yourself. Be ready to talk about what makes you unique. BUT do not try to be someone you are not.
⦁ Be talkative, reactive and animated. Remember that Production wants good Diary Room reactions, not someone who just sits there and must be prompted time and again.
⦁ Don't make exaggerated claims without the proof to back up your sales pitch. This is one of the biggest sore thumbs casting has with applicants...they've seen it all, and a thousand times before. Don't say you'll "shake up the house" then just sit there when they ask you how you intend to accomplish it.
You have to understand one important thing. They want GOOD TV from you. They will be placing their expectations and their reputation as casting directors firmly on your shoulders, and they want you to deliver.
Good Luck, and I hope to see you next year!
